Tyler, the Creator just announced on twitter that his beloved Camp Flog Gnaw Carnival is back for the fifth straight year! Let’s be honest, we would all kill to attend (Seriously, if someone buys me tickets I’ll love you unconditionally). This is a pretty amazing accolade, demonstrating just how much of an all-around superstar Tyler has become with his music, carnival and brand in general. Last year’s carnival sold over 30,000 tickets, and because of that Tyler is bumping the carnival into a two-day extravaganza to be held on November 12th and the 13th at Exposition Park in Los Angeles.
Not only has the carnival featured great musicians hand picked by Tyler, such as Pharrell and A$AP Rocky, but on top of that there are games, skate ramps, rides, food and even more. That’s right. Fucking carnival rides at a music festival. Tyler seems to have captured the inner child in all of us and conjured up his very own dreamworld that he’s been graceful enough to share with all of us. Over the course of his career Tyler has made a habit of not living up to people’s expectations; rather, he decided to live larger than life itself time and time again.
For now there isn’t much news about the festival other than the dates and location, as is the norm with announcements as big as this. A fire lineup will surely be shared soon, perhaps with some more big surprises to shake up this years carnival. If it’s anything like Tyler’s show we attended recently in Clive, Iowa then it’s definitely going to be a blast. Stay tuned to True Too for more hip-hop news and updates on this years Camp Flog Gnaw.
