Kanye West is in New York this week to perform at Governors Ball music festival on Sunday but the Lord Yeezus managed to swing through Big Boy’s 92.3 morning radio show to notch G.O.O.D. Music’s second big win of the week.
After G.O.O.D.’s president, Pusha T debuted the first single from his upcoming King Push earlier this week, ‘Ye confirmed the existence of the label’s second collective album Cruel Winter and played the first single titled “Round and Round (Champions).” After refusing to disclose who was on the track before pressing play, ‘Ye delivered a track featuring almost all of the names of the moment.
Opening with Quavo’s signature Migostune, the record goes on to give listeners verses from ‘Ye, Big Sean, Yo Gotti, 2 Chainz, Travis Scott, Desiigner, and even two verses from the “Fresh Out The Feds” Gucci Mane.
Ignoring the fact that Kanye delivered the first single from an album called Cruel Winter at the beginning of June, there were many insights coming out of the track and the interview with Big Boy including the fact that Cruel Winter is already in the mixing and mastering stage. Perhaps most interesting is the line in ‘Ye’s verse where he declares himself “fresh outta debt in this motherf*****.”
Astute fans will recall that as recently as a few months ago, Kanye made the claim that he was deep in debt and went so far as to solicit the Dictator of Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg, for investments in his creativity.
However, the best verse on the song undoubtedly goes to Titty Boi a.k.a. 2 Chainz whose line about putting the real in gorilla was either scary prescient or recorded in scary fast time.
