New Zealand is not necessarily the first place anyone would ever think of when mentioning Hip-Hop or music in general, but Diaz Grimm has his mind set on a much bigger picture.
The dark and innovative single “Quarterbacks” is the artist’s first single since his SXSW performance announcement. From New Zealand to Texas, Grimm is an iTunes chart-topper and has been hailed as a “new rap superstar” in The New Zealand Herald’s review of his debut album Osiris. The album received a 4-star rating and went on to climb to #1 on the New Zealand iTunes hip-hop chart.
The video that accompanies “Quarterbacks” is equally as dark. Sex in cars, strip clubs raining with zero-marked dollar bills, choking innocent bystanders, eating two burgers clenched in each fist, and Mexican standoffs all make their ways into the Jason Bock directed video.
Regardless, Grimm is certain of his skill and is planning to “do it independent ‘till the label show a lot of stacks.”
