This morning DJ Khaled dropped his newest single “For Free” featuring Drake. The track’s produced by Khaled and OVO members Nineteen85, Jordan Ullma, and is the first banger dropped for his upcoming album Major Key. The single rolls off the excitement from the huge deal Khaled signed with Jay Z to serve as his manager. Drake provides the lyrics for the track, singing and rapping in a way that has become familiar to most.
However, a fresh set of intoxicating club vibes have created yet another Summer ’16 classic. Khaled may even elude to this in his outro as he declares “They don’t want me to have another anthem, so I made sure I got another anthem,” and, “Summer’s ours, it alway’s has been.” Drizzy is already sitting on top of Billboard’s Hot 100 with his #1 single “One Dance,” off of his latest album Views.
Drake also spits “And like your boy from Compton said/this dick ain’t free.” as a shout out to Kendrick Lamar. This brings contrast to Kdot’s “For Sale” on To Pimp a Butterfly. And who could ignore Drizzy’s opening verse mimicking that of Too $horts on “Blow the Whistle.”
Dj Khaled has been very busy lately doing interviews at all the biggest radio stations and announcing his new line of “Belair Luxe Champagne”. Major Key is set to be released in 2016 but a specific date has yet to be announced by the Snapchat meme-machine. Be that as it may, it doesn’t mean the well of information has been dry. Khaled has said the album contains features from names like Future, Big Sean, and Chris Brown. Get the song here and check out True Too for more updates.
