July Singles Roundup Playlist

Another month of singles has come and gone with no shortage of vibes put out by todays favorite artists. In this edition of the July Singles Roundup Playlist we have a wide variety of up-and-coming artists like Smino & Broderick Batts as well as a few living legends like Nas & Erykah Badu who teamed up on “This Bitter Land”. Many of Chicago’s native emcees were busy this past month, comprising a majority of the playlist. Saba is back with another great track titled “Symmetry”. With a beat produced by Kenn Ross, the single is off of his upcoming project Bucket List which Saba hinted should be dropping very soon. Noname hit a buzzer beater as the calendar turned and dropped her much anticipated project Telefone. She also put in extra work earlier in the month, linking up with fellow CHI artists TheMind and Mick Jenkins on “Animated Ambition”. With Mick’s project THC just around the corner this new class of artists are busily promoting the new wave of sound in Chicago.

YG also teamed up with G-Eazy and Macklemore for an encore of the politically charged anthem “FDT” short for “Fuck Donald Trump”. The two rappers give their perspective of the republican nominee and his policy. Nipsey Hussle, who appeared on the album cut of “FDT” put his thoughts on the mic with the very personal single “I Don’t Stress”. Nipsey raps about rising above the pressure and his mental fortitude on the song while continuing to capitalize on a great year .

A few of True Too’s favorite up and comers also made it on to the playlist, including IshDARR repping Milwaukee with his new track “Bandits”. On the west coast, Steez76D just dropped a collab album but that didn’t stop him from putting out one of the best singles of the month with “Acid Rain”. Meanwhile Broderick Batts hailing from Florida put out one of the hottest summer hits with his single “Hit It & Quit It” featuring Swaghollywood.
