Logic has a pretty impressive Hip-Hop résumé for a 25 year old, with four mixtapes, being an official member of the 2013 XXL Freshmen class, his first official album Under Pressure debuted at number 2 on the Billboard 200, and now his – even better – sophomore effort The Incredible True Story is out. The album contains 18 tracks that is pretty much all Logic, with only four features from Big Lenbo, Lucy Rose, Dria, and Jesse Boykins III.
What really makes this album special is the sci-fi concept Logic has going throughout the project. This album is basically the soundtrack while two characters, Quentin Thomas and William Kai are on a journey to planet Paradise. Logic even takes the time to throw in a few skits to keep us engaged with the story the album tells, a style that seems to not be as effective in the modern era but one Logic has the hang of. This album is filled with hi-hats and a lot of jazz influence, creating a sound that could have come straight from the Golden Era. You really feel like you are riding along on this intergalactic journey.
Logic has clearly found a style that is all his own. With tracks like “Young Jesus” that bang hard or tracks that feel like floating in space as on “Paradise,” this is definitely an impressive album, one that can’t go unnoticed.
