Dame D.O.L.L.A. drops a new Freestyle over Mobb Deep’s “Shook Ones”

Even the Great Wall of the Chinese internet can’t stop Damian Lillard’s #MusicMondays. While on Adidas’ “Take On Summer” tour in Taipei, Dame D.O.L.L.A. dropped his latest Soundcloud banger featuring frequent collaborator V.I.P. Oakland’s own isn’t a stranger to a challenge, and this time instead of Steph Curry he takes on the classic beat for Mobb Deep’s “Shook Ones”. Many have come before him and failed, but Dame steps up to the plate and hits a home run with this one. Step aside B Rabbit, ’cause Dame goes in:

Small circle man its hard to get close to me
I stick to who I am and not who I’m supposed to be
I never say much, they say I’m awkward socially
your girl Miss Parker and I’m Professor Oglevee.

Even V.I.P. drops a nice verse, spitting like a veteran and keeping it interesting with abrupt switch ups to his flow. However, Lillard is the star of this track, thanks in part to both his delivery and lyrics equally. The man is a true wordsmith, and its no surprise that he spits a viciously addictive freestyle; he’s already demonstrated his freestyling chops in the past, even making our list of ten of the best freestyles to come from Sway in the Morning. Seriously, this basketball player is better going off the top than a great deal of rap’s luminaries (*cough* Kanye *cough*).

Lillard just leaves us with one question: when are we going to get a goddamn mixtape? Clearly he’s sitting on some amount of music, as one would imagine it would be quite difficult to find time to record these tracks on the road. Regardless, when he decides to drop it (if it exists) we’ll be waiting with hungry ears. Should that day ever come, make sure you keep checking back here at True Too for all of you Hip-hop needs and check out the freestyle below.
