Hear the New Slapper From Bay Legend E-40
E-40 is a bay area legend. There’s no denying that. Even though he’s ventured out on more business deals like his recent self-named alcohol, he never forgets what made him. To this day, E-40 proves time and time again that he can deliver hits.
“Slappin” features Nef The Pharaoh. Even though it’s not their first collab, the first being off of E-40’s album Sharp On All 4 Corners Vol. 1 called “707,” Neffy has really been coming into his own. After signing with E-40’s label Sick Wit It, having a very solid EP, and just recently dropping a mixtape entirely produced by Cardo, he’s been getting plenty of shine recently. This adds to it even more.
We also have D.R.A.M. on the track. D.R.A.M., standing for Does.Real.Ass.Music., started gaining buzz with his song “Cha Cha.” A lot of people claimed that Drake’s single “Hotline Bling” stole from this song, coincidentally giving D.R.A.M. buzz from the arguments between the two tracks. He had also recently went on tour with Chance The Rapper for his Family Matters Tour.
As for the song itself, “Slappin” was produced by Rick Rock who has also produced for the likes of 2Pac, Busta Rhymes, and Snoop Dogg. Basically, everyone that has the capacity to bring it, Rick Rock has probably been with it. At the beginning of the song, D.R.A.M. brings the hook and sings about getting to “fuck on this bitch in the Bay.” E-40 and Nef go on their verses about being the bosses of their lanes and how they won’t come down. To add to it, the beat is bombastic and infectious, it’s just something that can’t be ignored.
The song is just a great braggadocious party song. With the great instrumentation and verses to follow, hopefully this song will be found in more places. Check out the song here below:
Also, be on the look out for the new E-40 albums, The D-Boy Diary 1 & 2, coming soon.
