Daniel Ibeh, better known as EK, is a rising rapper out of Boston, MA. EK was originally born in Nigeria and came to the U.S. in 2001. EK connected with music, which quickly became his primary creative output and a way to transition into his new life. Following up on the release of his Hands of Time EP, EK has dropped a new track titled “I Got You” featuring Mitymaose. EK excels at telling personal stories of everyday life in his raps, a theme that he follows throughout this song.
See your reflection in the mirror / Your shadow behind it / I know you destroy kings / I heard you bragging about it
“I Got You” features very smooth and wavy production, with some heavy layered percussion that takes center stage on the beat. EK commands the listeners attention, as he raps about the feelings of love and how much power a woman can have over a man. The struggles of forming a relationship can be tough, and you have to work at it. EK does a good job creating that sense of power a relationship has, almost like a storm building. While there are rough times, there is a certain beauty in the calm of the storm. Towards the end of the track we are hit with a jazzy outro that finishes the track off on a high note. You feel much more relaxed and calm after the give and take of the relationship EK rhymes about, as this musical storm he has created opens up into pristine clear skies.
