When Kanye West dropped his long awaited album The Life of Pablo yesterday, it featured a variety of songs which were reminiscent of, as Kanye West would say, “the old Kanye”. Whether that be to 808s and Heartbreaks, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy or even Yeezus. However, Stefan Ponce, the producer behind Childish Gambino’s “3005” and Vic Mensa’s “Down on My Luck”, takes this song even further back to “chop up the soul Kanye”, as he reworks the freestyle acapella into a song that sounds like it could have easily appeared on “The College Dropout”. It results in adding to the irony of Ye’s verse and creates a sound that Kanye fans have all dearly missed from him. Check out Stefan Ponce’s tweet for the download link below!
