Less than a year since his last album, GO:OD AM, Mac Miller has announced that a new album is on its way soon. On Beats One radio with Zane Lowe, the Pittsburgh emcee shared details about his upcoming album The Divine Feminine. Mac revealed the cover of the album and name-dropped a few features like Kendrick Lamar, Ceelo Green, and Robert Glasper. Miller has also stated that his next album will arrive this September, exactly 12 months since GO:OD AM.
Mac Miller also teamed up with recent XXL freshman Anderson .paak for the first single off The Divine Feminine titled “Dang!” which also premiered on Lowe’s radio show. The wavy track produced by Miller himself is the type that will be played all summer long. With a bouncy beat reminiscent of KAYTRANADA’s signature style, the duo work together to get the listener grooving and entranced by waves the track makes.
Mac has been busy touring as of late, recently making his rounds throughout Europe. His last album was praised by both critics and fans so it will be exciting to see Mac bounce back quickly with another album in only a year. It’s not like there has been a drought of Miller’s music in the past year; the rapper has released many tracks and even a few side projects under his producer alias Larry Fisherman. One of the best is a tribute to the legendary Phife Dawg titled “5 Foot Assassin,” a play on the late emcee’s nickname. On the track, Mac remixes the single “Check The Rhime” by A Tribe Called Quest and includes a few classic back and fourths between Phife and Q-Tip.
