Keeping to his promise Mick Jenkins has just dropped a new track off his debut album The Healing Component. “Spread Love” is the first single off the album and with smooth production by Soulection member Sango it is a great groovy track that has the classic themes used by Mick of love and water.
According to his website Mick will be dropping THC on 9/23 and he just released tickets for his upcoming global Fall tour. Mick is following his fellow Chicago artists and friends like Noname and THEmind who also recently released projects. Fans have been waiting for The Healing Component since Mick first mentioned the project after the release of his EP Wave[s] a year ago. Mick has been hinting at the album dropping with a number of Instagram posts and teasers on his Snapchat. So after a year of teasing the project fans are ecstatic to finally receive a release date for the album.
The XXL freshman snub has been busy in the meantime keeping his fans pleased with a number of singles and features. Fans were disappointed to not see Mick’s name appear on the features list of fellow Chicago rapper Chance The Rapper‘s third mixtape but a track that didn’t make the cut for the project leaked the day the tape dropped so fans were left with some satisfaction. Mick is known to often collaborate with his fellow Chicago artists so it is safe to assume that will be the same case with his debut project due up but it would be great to see Mick branch out to artists that we would not usually see him work with like Jazz Cartier or Skepta. A Skepta, Mick Jenkins collaboration would be simply amazing.
