True Too’s Video Of The Day goes to Play Pat’s “Solo” from the local Denver hip hop scene.
Originally based out of the East Bay Area in Northern California, Play Pat sports West Coast vibes in almost everything he produces. Whether it be throwing up the famous W or name dropping Pink Dolphin, it’s a fundamental part of the up and coming rapper’s clout.
His new music video “Solo” fuses acoustic strings with auto-tune to the neo-R&B hip hop style of the current era. And it’s wavyyy. Produced by frequent collaborator and Spanish producer Enry-K, the track is reminiscent of Lil Aaron’s Damn minus the industrial Yeezus influence.
The video features Play Pat with his white Dodge Challenger riding around and blowing trees (legally, albeit) in the streets of Denver at night. The director, Luke Barrett, created a neat play on the night sky in the video by adding a trippy nebulous effect on the background to visually complement the hazy direction of the song. The visuals are quite impressive.
