50 Cent

50 Cent​ was born Curtis James Jackson III in Queens, New York in 1975. 50 Cent is a rapper, singer, entrepreneur, investor and actor. He first appeared on the Onyx​ single “React” from their third album Shut ‘Em Down (1998) on Def Jam Recordings​ after being introduced to them through a mutual friend, Jam-Master Jay​ (RIP).

His debut mixtape Guess Who’s Back (2002) gained 50 nationwide attention, and prompted Eminem​ to sign him to Shady/Aftermath in 2002. In 2003, 50 released his classic major label debut album Get Rich or Die Tryin’. The Grammy-nominated, multi-platinum album featured 50’s new sing-song rap style in addition to catchy hooks and solid production by Dr. Dre, Rockwilder and others.

In addition to a commercially successful music career, he has also starred in various films, voiced in animated tv shows, authored books, and started multiple business ventures; the likes of Effen vodka, clothing, body deodorant, condoms and much more. 50 Cent has been ranked among the wealthiest figures of the American hip hop scene. He is one of the most famous and recognizable artists that hip hop culture has ever produced.
