Too Short released his eighth studio album, Can’t Stay Away through JIVE Records in 1999. This was Short Dog’s first album back after retiring from rap in 1996. It was recorded from 1998–1999 at the Oakland City Studios and Ant Banks Bad Ass Beat Lab in Atlanta, Georgia.

The album was a commercial success, becoming certified RIAA Gold only a month after its release. It is also Too Short’s fourth consecutive album to reach the top of the US Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart.

Can’t Stay Away included production from Too Short, Erick Sermon, Diamond D, Ant Banks, Mike D and Jermaine Dupri. It featured rappers 8Ball And MJG, JAY-Z, E-40, Daz Dillinger, Scarface and many more. Along with a single, a music video was produced for the song, “Ain’t No Bitches”, which can be seen below.
