Let's Get It: Thug Motivation 101 (2005)

July 26, 2005

Today marks the 10th anniversary of the release of Let’s Get It: Thug Motivation 101 by Young Jeezy. He recorded his third studio album from 2004-2005 and released it through CTE in 2005. Production on the album comes from many different producers; Mannie Fresh, Akon, Mr. Collipark, Jazze Pha, among many others. Features include Trick Daddy, Bun B, Lloyd, Young Buck and others.

Let’s Get It put Young Jeezy on the map with singles “Soul Survivor” featuring Akon and “Go Crazy” featuring Jay-Z. His southern gangsta raps brought the street life to mainstream rap once again, as Jeezy said himself that he’s not a rapper; he’s just a guy from the streets documenting his life. Young Jeezy has been credited by many as the King of Trap Music.

Let’s Get It debuted at #2 on the Billboard 200 and #1 on the Top Rap Albums, with 172,000 copies sold in the first week of release. The album was certified RIAA Platinum in late 2005. In 2012, Complex called the album one of the classic albums of the last decade.
