Puff Daddy‘s Bad Boy Entertainment released the Notorious Soundtrack in 2009. The album, coinciding with the 2009 biopic of Notorious B.I.G., features several of his previously released songs in addition to a few other unreleased tracks. Additionally, it contains a composed theme song from Danny Elfman, a new song from Jay Z x Santigold and even a track that includes Faith Evans and his own son, Christopher “CJ” Wallace, Jr.. How touching of Puffy.
The Notorious Soundtrack was released three days prior to the release of the film. The biopic, released by Fox Searchlight Pictures, received fairly average reviews despite comprising a holistic story of the rapper in its allotted time.
The album perfectly complemented its film counterpart with several prominent Biggie songs: “Notorious Thugs,” “Party and Bullshit” and “Juice,” among several other classic hits. It peaked at #4 on the U.S. Billboard 200 and #1 on the Top Rap Albums and Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums Chart lists.
