Hearing “Running Back” on ESPN’s First Take only increased the already palpable anticipation for Wale’s fifth album, S.H.I.N.E.  Wale and Lil Wayne were invited by the producers of “first take” to discuss a few NFC east teams. Following their discussion a performance was almost necessary. Although there has not been a realizes date for S.H.I.N.E., one other single has been released; “MY PYT”.

For those that know little about Wale’s past, it is pretty incredible.  He was a gifted athlete who played football throughout his whole life until college, and of course was the starting running back. As an extremely gifted athlete, Olubowale, otherwise known as Wale, was awarded athletic scholarships to attend Robert Morris University and then Virginia State University. After starting, however, he would transfer to Bowie State University where Wale would drop out and pursue his dream of rapping.

Even after nearly fifteen years of not playing football Wale is still showing love for the game. If you listen to this fresh single you’ll hear a slew of football metaphors and wordplay like, “She told me to hit the hole, I used to play running back” or “So whenever I go, know I’m runnin’ back.”

Although Wale’s verse is pretty fire, Lil Wayne does a fantastic job of following up. With this being President Carter’s first feature of 2017, Lil Wayne fans are wondering whether to expect some more Tuneche later this year. After what feels like years waiting for Tha Carter V this may be the year it is released. Martin Shkreli was reported to buy and leak Carter’s album.

Now for an album that is certain to drop later this year, S.H.I.N.E. This will be Wale’s fifth studio album and potentially a whole new version of Wale. He claims he “just wants to make vibes.” S.H.I.N.E. will drop sometime this fall and with some Michael Jackson influence in “MY PYT” and a Lil Wayne feature has every Wale fan eager to hear what’s next from the D.C. native.
